our approach to ‣ enterprise resource planning
agile‣think® grew out of an industry transition to offer the benefits of fully integrated ERP systems in a more rapid, agile and timely fashion. This in part came from a reaction in the ERP market against long running, monolithic projects that consumed precious funds in the $10’s millions and many years before tangible results were ever seen.
After experiences in many of these massive global initiatives, we looked at adopting new agile approaches to the problems ERP systems excelled at solving.
ERP 1.0 for all vendors followed the integrated data model philosophy to one degree or another, and this approach has many strengths, its signifier weakness however is in flexibility and rapid adoption of change.
In the wake of the Agile Enterprise movement, ERP 2.0 is underway and attempts to allow freedom of choice within cooperating business systems while maintaining a level of integration that supports transparency of operations across the enterprise.
We see the on-premise side of ERP moving towards information hubs and enterprise reporting architectures while the business specific applications move outwards toward loosely coupled SaaS or cloud based solutions wired together with high performance message based integration technologies.
